Building a new layout for my five year old grandson from Ken Hoganson's excellent book 21 Great Track Plans for Compact Layouts after the last attempt from scratch failed miserably.  It is the Cisco Railroad track plan.

The turnouts are two each of RH and Left Hand 060 and two RH 048 remote switches.

There are two choices for each switch, Remote only and Remote & Command.  Example:  6-12057 (remote only) and 6-81951 (remote & command).  In looking around t is clear that the remote & command versions are much more readily available.  The layout will be used with both conventional and Lion Chief bluetooth.

Does it matter which one I use?

Thanks,

John

The command feature allows the switch to be controlled directly with a TMCC/Legacy ID and the CAB Remote & Base. Since you do not mention command control, then you don't need the command version, but you can use the command version as a remote only switch. So either switch type will work for your scenario. However, you can "future proof" yourself with the command switches to accommodate your collection grows into command control in the future either on this layout or a future one. Which ever version you use, I strongly suggest wiring the switches for an accessory power bus.
