Are manual FasTrack switches non-derailing?
The remote/command version includes the statement:
- Flawless non-derailing function allows trains to keep running regardless of switch position.

To the best of my knowledge all Fastrack switches have the non-derailing feature. Here is a link to the last track and power catalog Lionel issued. On pg. 16, there is a general statement that Fastrack switches have a “flawless non-derailing function”.
In my opinion, they are non-derailing until they aren't! I am having a few issues. The non-remotes are all 36 I believe, so I suppose part of the issue is that. I am only running a smallish railking on that loop which SHOULD handle 36. It doesn't derail every time but enough to aggravate.

Lionel made O-31 manuals as well.
Yes, Paul, I forgot about that as I think they came out after I had entirely too many 0-36, wasn't sure that they also had the switches.

I might be wrong (rare, but not infrequent) but I believe the manual switches rely on the gentle spring-loaded rails to allow the wheels of a car to gently push the rail into the right direction, whereas the electric versions rely on solenoid action to change directions.

Thanks for the replys. I'm just setting up a simple single track with a 036 reverse loop at each end to run continuous. I don't own any switches so I thought I'd check before hitting the checkout key.
