Activate the switch by shorting one of the red or green leads to the black lead. If the switch works from there, it's not the switch.
Note that I'm assuming you kept the color codes of the original switches. Basically, you just connect the Thru or Out switch line to the common to change the switch position.
I also recommend setting the FT switches up both with conventional controllers and the AIU, this from the beginning gives you ultimate control and testing of the FT Switch, in fact I just eliminated the AIU and went to the FT Command Control switches eliminating all AIU wiring, I still use the conventional switch controllers on the CC FT switches for testing and emergency activation if needed.
