I have a Lionel 036 Remote switch that has been working flawlessly for 3 years, but tonight it won't turn with the remote and the LED in the switch and remote are very dim regardless of voltage. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Can you turn it manually by rotating the lantern? If so, will it go back with the remote?
Yes it will turn manually and no the remote seems to have no effect.It won't flip it in either direction.

Do you use track voltage or fixed voltage to throw the switch? Are all wires connected? Any broken wires?
If possible, it might be easier to pull the switch and bench test it.

If you turn it manually in both directions by hand does the light that is dim light Bright.
Must likely a problem with one of the micro switches. I had a switch where one
microswitch was staying activated. The plastic arm on the microswitch needed to be
bent out a bit to return it's spring like nature.
