The wiring is indeed reversed internally. I perform this mod when I need diverging to be the Main and thus indicate green. It is a non-trivial bit of work so yes, you just need to return them.

Is this something you can describe? I could reverse your procedure to set things as they should be. Or, of course, just do as you do, and find a place where diverging is Main. I have some ideas. I'm posting because I now have a third bad switch (I returned the first two). The new, bad LH 072 turnouts I bought are packed in clear molded plastic vs. the older white styrofoam.
I took the backs off the new switch and a working 072 LH switch and couldn't for the life of me see any difference. What a mess of wires and hot glue! I did notice that the new switch had the track jumper and AUX power wires reversed and I fixed those - but that didn't change the red/green indicator mixup. I tested the anti-derail function and it's working correctly. If it's a bad PC board I probably can't fix that, but I'm certainly comfortable soldering little wires.
Thanks for any help! I noticed that Lionel customer service is moving and shutting down until July. I can go back to my hobby shop, of course, but they'll probably think I'm running some kind of a scam. At some point though, someone else will get a mixed up turnout.
