Hi. I am thinking about changing my layout from Fastrack to Atlas O 3 rail. I have read some accounts of rolling stock having problems on their track. Additionally I would like some input from anyone who has made the change either to or from the atlas track, and I would like their opinions either pro or con. Thanks, Rich

The only kind of track I ever had was Atlas. Both in 2 rail and 3 rail. I never had any problems with only using the rail joiners as the electrical connection between tracks.
I'm looking to sell a couple of boxes of Atlas 3 rail to buy more Atlas 2 rail. If interested email me at campbell14731@comcast.net.

any ideas on buliding a hump yard
Thanks for your replies. I am a little curious as to why You changed to all atlas, but then kept the fastrack switches. Are they that much better. I thought the wiring on the Atlas switches would be easier, not as delicate. Of course I still have not purchased the first piece of Atlas track. Rich
I switched to Atlas because: a) I ruined my Fastrack by cleaning it with Simple Green (long story - too long for here, now), b) Atlas is better - at least for my needs.
I used Fastrack switches because they have a built in auto de-railing feature and are bulletproof. Atlas switches are perhaps okay, but I decided to go with Fastrack.
Thank you again Lee. I'm fairly new to this, I guess I should try changing just a small amount at a time to make sure I know what the pitfalls are. Rich
lionel's new expansion paste also has a joining function!
It sounds and looks more like an April fools joke.

Yes, it is.
If you align the railtops of the two types of track, all you need do is use jumper wires from one to the other to transition.
The other approach would be: FasTrack/FastrackTransition/Atlas using special Atlas railjoiners. Lionel pins on one end and clips to slide onto Atlas track on the other.
