Favorite Heritage Loco?

ALL of the NS and UP units!

 

If I could buy one NS unit, it would be the Reading SD70. I always liked the "BEE LINE" Service scheme.

 

If I could buy one UP unit, it would be the MoPac SD70. I really like how they used the colors and the Eagle.

The UP Western Pacific Heritage Unit is the winner for me. It has Green (my favorite color) and it is simple classy imo.

The Lehigh Valley unit of course.   

To date it is the only one I have seen in person.

I also like the CNJ, the EL, and and Reading.

 

From the UP roster my favorite is the MKT. I really like the two tone red.

Wabash, until BNSF brings back the true warbonnet. I have always liked that scheme ever since my brother received his Lionel GP back in the 50s. (Not my photos, BTW).

A very good pick! This would be my alternate to the Reading SD70! I have seen this unit more here in Delaware than the Reading unit! (Harrington and Delaware City).

I have six NS heritage units and it is very hard just to pick one but the Southern is beautiful.

UP: Chicago and Northwestern - just like that particular scheme

Amtrak: Phase 4

 

So far I have 5 NS Heritage units, I think  the Nickel Plate looks the best in my collection.

 

There is no EL, but a there are both an Erie and a Lackawanna units in their separate paint schemes.

The Reading Unit no contest!  (Then again I grew there so I might be a teeny bit biased)

It would have to be the CNJ unit for me. I love the way that scheme came out. It helps that the CNJ is my favorite railroad.

 

I'll second Henry J.'s preference for the Reading SD70

Of course I favor the PRR version but heck they all look great!  I might even have to buy one just to look at it.   So it's Pennsy then Reading, then everything else!

I like the New Haven units that Metro North runs.

It will be the Lionel version of the NKP ES44 if it ever arrives at my local toy train dealer.  The NKP because it will be drug behind the 765 Berk.

A bit of dark horse in the race: I always liked the Central of Georgia scheme. Somewhat reminiscent of the B&O.

This one.  I like the colors.

My Favorites in order:

• UP (have the first three with scale wheels; want to get the last three with scale wheels):

• NS: Partial to Pennsy, but not buying one.
• BNSF: Well, if they got of the dime and offered a heritage series. Until then, I have my MTH Isle of Denial ATSF SD70ACe.

That too is my favorite NS heritage unit. I grew in north(Muhlenberg Township) Reading PA, and my grandfather C. D. Fritz retired from the Reading Company.
