Can anyone tell me about the little icons to the left of a link in my "Favorites" list? Most have an icon related to who the forum belongs to. The icon for all of my OGR Forum links changed today to a blue heart with a star inside. They were something red. Any idea why the change?

Jim, what do you mean by your "Favorites list?"
Are you referring to a list of links in your browser bookmarks or something else here on the forum?
Rich,
I suspect he is talking about his browser's "favorites" list. I'm not sure what drives the choice or presence of an icon next to a link in those lists, but I have a similar problem with the OGR icons on the tabs in my Firefox browser. I typically have 7 OGR forum sites open at the same time, each in their own tab, but only six of those tabs will start with the red O Gauge Railroading symbol. The first tab, which is set to the OGR home page, always has a blank dashed square where the red symbol usually appears. Don't know why and don't really care as long as the page displays correctly. And, it does.
So to Big Jim, I say, as long as the links in your favorites list work properly, don't worry about the icons.

I believe the internet slang for these is "favicons", and I had started a thread about this as well. It used to be a nice little OGR logo, then Hoop.la performed some upgrade and a bunch of stuff went loopy for a while. In Google Chrome the favicon is a computer with radio waves coming out of it. Would be nice to have the little OGR logo back.
Yeah Moonman, that's what I'm talking about. It used to have an red OGR Logo, but, not anymore.
We have an Apple, with Safari, and the red OGR logo is still there for me.

I have IE 11 and I too see the blue hearts. Have never seen the red OGR logo in my tabs.

So, who is in charge of these "favicons"? Who puts them there, because I have some favorites that only show a blank folder icon? Are they coming from the site's artwork or what?
A "favicon" is a small image file saved on the web server by the web site designer. If the webmaster of a given site has not uploaded a favicon image file, none will show in the tabs.
In other words, favicons are under the control of the webmaster for any given site.
