Mississippi River & Bonne Terre RR.  Doe Run to Herculaneum with a branch to Leadwood.  Connected to the Missouri & Illinois at north end and the St Louis, Iron Mountain, & Southern (both MoPac) at the south.  Built primarily to haul lead ore but regularly won prizes for the best maintained passenger trains under the St. Louis Union Station train shed.

Lovers of shortline railroading are indeed lucky to have Strasburg around.  My vote would go for something a little more local:

The Virginia Blue Ridge Railway.  No longer in operation, but now a rail trail that's great to visit.  The original depot is still present at Piney River, and caboose #2 is being rebuilt next to it.

The one and only East Broad Top.

Few dreams in this world,  but one is to be able to go to Mr. Kovalchick with a certified copy of evidence of funds and ask him what he wants for his road.

And to have the million dollars a mile that it probably requires to resurrect the right of way itself.  Plus tunnels and bridges to restore/rebuild.

My pipe dream.
