I have been experimenting lately with foam tape, if anyone is interested in commenting, I would be glad to hear.

It looks interesting and realistic from the sample your displaying. Did you paint that in any particular way? Is the tape tolerant of various paint products I wonder? Is it cheap and available? Ease of working with it is another curiousity. But to repeat myself...that is very realistic looking which is always my primary concern with scenic efforts.

It looks really nice. You've captured the look of a stone retaining wall.
In the picture provided the surface appears to have some texture. Is this an illusion created by the paint, did you use a textured paint or did you find another way to create texture on the face of the foam tape? Also the edges have a rough, quarried look to them. I klnow the foam tape edges are usually preety uniform. How did you achieve the rounded edges?
You nailed it. How did you do it?
New to me, too! I've seen folks slice stones from a stick of foam, but the tape is a real innovation: quick, uniform, and self-sticking. Excellent!
Thanks for sharing.
Really looks good. I'm layed up a bit after hip replacement surgery and this is a great while-away-the-time project. Thanks for posting!
Good looking wall, Tim. This guy makes terrific bridges, too!
All the best, Dave G.
Thanks guys for your input, and compliments.
Tim,
Again I think it looks great. Your color blending is superb. Did you leave the on the front face of the double sided sticky foam tape or does the paint eliminate the stickiness of the face of the tape?

Tim
Great idea! What are the three colors you used? Did you sponge or brush them on?
Thanks

Dennis, you are not stealing, I posted my technique to share it with others, you are welcome to put it to use on your layout. Sharing knowledge with others here is one of the things that makes this forum such a great thing.
Thanks Tim,
I know that but this old fart just meant that he will be using your technique when he gets around to that phase of development of my layout. Still haven't finalized track plan....
1. At what stage in the process did you use the 'foam tenderizer' [ ie, before backing tape removed, after cutting and painting, etc ] ?
2. Does your wife or SO know you've done this, or do you have your own manly set of grilling utensils ?
Nice work. And I have a roll of foam tape.....

Tim,
So the foam was like weather stripping or such, not foam mounting tape.
Joe
Yes....what store and can you tell us the brand or post a picture of the package the foam came in??
Thanks,
Alan
Just seen sone rolls of textured shelf liner at the grocery store.
It looked like various types of stone granite.
Just apply dullcote and weather it to look real.
Hi Tim.
I saw your Viaduct bridges at Jeb Kriegle's (Mega-Steam) booth at York, very nice product.

Thanks Jim.
Very creative! Your efforts are just the thing this section of the Forum is for, ie; creativity of the use of simple materials to create realistic scenery for our hobby. Good work! Dave G.
