I seem to recall a post months ago about the use of ferrules. CAn someone point me to these posts, or give me some options of usage for them. Will they wrk for those lousy clips on many accessories??

Are you referring to the fahnestock clips on most Lionel accessories? They usually work well, especially if you tin the wires first. Really handy to use when the item needs to be removed from the layout.
Those are the clips alright. A real pain! And I use solid wire like 22 GA.
