First, wow, is it nice!!!  Put my 20 drops of smoke fluid down the chimney, then I couldn't believe how tight the whistle was on. I was afraid I was going to break it trying to pull it off to get smoke in for the whistle steam.

Two things I noticed that I don't think I've ever observed before.

1) The smoke coming from the stack appeared to be a bit darker than that coming from the whistle. (No egg nog involved)

2) After running 10 minutes or so I shut her off to return about an hour later. Started her up, no smoke from the stack. Shut it all down and toggled the main smoke switch off/on and restarted. It then appeared fine.

I'm wondering if it might be a loose wire or if this smoke unit may have some known issues?

Thanks for your help!!

I have three Atlantic 4-4-2's and I love them. I had a total of four, before lionel refunded me for one of them.

I have had smoke problems with all four of them. According to lionel there is a gasket problem in the smoke unit and when you add fluid the gasket swells and stops the fan from turning. Lionel has taken care of the problem on all of them, Sometimes it was the main stack and sometimes it was the whistle smoke unit.

Great little Engines and I really like them. Good Luck with yours.
