Hi All,

I decided to try some track weathering and see how it came out. Now I know that I want to build my layout using Ross Custom track and switches, but wanted to experiment first while I build my benchwork. So One of the things I like about the Ross, is the wood ties and stakes, but I hate the color. I like seeing worn and weathered ties and I kinda want that for my layout. So I came across some railorad tie brown stain at the Big E train show (forgot the maker) and decided to use that.

I used a wire wheel dremel to remove the black painted creosote from each tie (leaving a little here or there) and to distress the wood at the same time, and then I applied a couple coats of stain. What do you guys think?

I also purchased a rusting solution to experiment and used that on the rails. I'm not sure I like how that part came out.

Comments and suggestions appreciated.

Thanks,

Adam

Am curious to see what you did here as that sounds like a heck of a lot of work to do each tie!

Still no photos visible however.....
