Interesting article on the building by Flagler of the railroad from Miami to Key West, The workes suffered horendous working conditons and two huricanes before the one in 1935 that ended the railroad. Has information on railroad related stops if you make the trip.

That's a great article that covers a lot of ground in a short time. If one wants an in-depth tale, there is a book called The Last Train to Paradise by Les Standiford. The amount of time, effort, money, and lives that were invested in the project is astounding.
Bring a fishing pole, if you go….fishing next to old railroad bridge and piers used to be awesome….lots of history , wish I would have paid more attention when I lived there.
