Flashing lights on my ZW | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

i have one of the new ZW’s with the meters. Sometimes when I first turn it on the lights on it flash off and on before it stops. This might be for a couple seconds or sometimes 15 seconds. Anyone know what is causing this?

If the RED on goes on & stays on, you have a direct short on your Track!!! Disconnect it from your Track and try to turn it on !

Doug N,

This is one that I would contact Lionel on, however I was at a layout one time and saw something similar happen, I was advised that this often happens when starting up some of the new ZW-L's. The owner actually disconnected the ZW-L from the layout and sure enough it went thru the same light ups, when restarted without being connected to the layout. It did not take 15sec however.

Thanks Fred and Dave, To clarify, the meter lights blink and the Lionel logo on the front blinks for a various length of time. Not the red light.
