Flashing Yellow and Red lights on Legacy Base

Were you able to make the module or just couldn't get past the connection from the PC to the base?

I was not able to make a module as base was not recognized. I tried via many  com ports. I will try to make module with a different laptop that I have used successfully before.

issue I have now is I cannot change channels on base, cannot connect can and base and cannot even seem to get it to accept an overwrite or reload of  previous base 1.6 module.

Can't say I've personally seen that where I couldn't recover to a previous version but here are the error codes from the Legacy manual.  My suggestion would have been to load a previous version but since you have done that without success can you determine anything from the error list below?

Yes, I referenced this document and could not determine a cause . Time to call Lionel I quests.

I had a can't connect issue after loading 1.61, but it was not chronic. I attributed it to random universe. I think I also had a bad module update when I made the 1.61 and remade it successfully before the connect issue. Wondering about all this...but it all works well now.

Very strange. Everything worked well prior , i.e. Base and Cab communicating via Channel 6.

I have downloaded 1.6 however cannot get any com port on 3 different computers to connect with the base via two different USB/ serial cables.

I have tried to reload 1.6 base software from previous module but Cab doesn't seem to restart itself.

So now Cab can't find base, scanning doesn't help. I cannot change channels as green light is constantly on and flashed erratically when I push channel button on back.

Base plugged in, green light on constant and yellow and red light flashing intermittent together.

I thought I would try to go back to an earlier module version and then upgrade but cannot get past ' base not communicating'.

I did something!!!

Will call Lionel tomorrow.

Yes but I had to re-do the base module to get it to work. The first time (using the same module) it didn't work.

What do you mean redo the base module. My issue is I cannot seem to be able to get base to be detected to redo a module. You need the base to write the  software form PC to module don't you?

I had to just make a new 1.61 that wouldn't load correctly and try it again. I don't remember if I had to restore the base to 1.60 or earlier to get it to write to the second try for the module...or if I just tried it to rewrite it and it worked, or if I used a second base. I have a backup base.

If it doesn't recognize the base, I would try to reload the base with a former version and then try making the 1.61 again...oh, I see you tried that. Bummer.

Al, Seems I recall reading somewhere along these pages that turning the battery charger switch either off or on allowed the base to communicate.  I can't find the post, however maybe someone else will chime in.

I don't use the battery charger, so the switch is off, but I will try that also.

I'm pretty sure this isn't the case. The battery charger switch turns off and on the battery charger. It has nothing to do with the base communicating. I've updated mine and others in both positions without fail. 

I've updated my base a few times with the charger off, it has no effect.

Confirmed, switch has no effect. Probably have to send system back to Lionel for repair and reset.

Have you powered down the Cab, removed and reinstalled the batteries?  Will the cab power down normally?

Yes, Cab powers down normally. I have installed fresh new batteries. I have reset it and reloaded 1.6 from module.

The issue continues with base. I have never had an issue with base being detected before and have seen the yellow and red and side Lionel lights slowly flashing. 

Left base plugged in overnight and this am base was dead. Could not power up. So unit has gone to Lionel hospital today.
