Hi folks,  I know unique and interesting flatcar loads get discussed from time to time, so here's a little something from my work.  What you have here is a large feed water heat exchanger that is part of a power plant boiler system.  Its sitting on an old school 40 flat car that just happens to be equipped with 3 axle trucks and is rated for 100 tons.  The fw heater weighs about 30 tons.DSCN1175

The heat exchanger was actually delivered by truck and then transferred to the flatcar to move it out of the way until it is needed next month.  Trackmobile pictures are just for bonus.

JHZ,      Thanks for the pics.   Reminds me of my 5 yrs. working on the docks in the Houston, Tx. area.

We received and loaded out many a piece of refinery/process equipment delivered to our dock by way of truck, rail and barge.  This included many types of exchangers, boilers, drums, towers, etc.  Then, I worked in heavy construction for 23 years as rigger, iron worker and crane operator before getting into management and safety.  Yep, I have rigged up, lifted, and placed such as you picture many times, in many different plants on the Houston Ship Channel and other area plants.  Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
