This train is full of upgrades The GG-1 Is a Williams engine that I got from Trainworld when they were blowing them out at 139 bucks Alex installed ERR sound and TMCC in it He also put the LED's on the pantographs to simulate sparks similar to the Vision GG1 The cars are MTH that I installed the LED light kits from 3rd Rail

GG1 got a quick repaint into DGLE😜 Really nice video, Ben.
Thats a great model of a great train. Excellent story on acquisition of the GG1, upgrades to it and the coaches. Any advice on options for triggering the diodes for a random pantograph spark effect? Thanks.
Looks good!
Great looking train! Congratulations!!
Bluelinec4,
Nice looking train, layout and video.

Not sure what you mean. The GG1 in Bluelinec4's video has the DGLE "Feathered" scheme from 1937, and the FOM cars started arriving in 1938. The OP's train depicts a possible real combination. Except the PRR did not have LW baggage and RPOs, but that is nitpicking. I think the train looks good.

First, hang some catenary.

We have all the catenary from Marty Fitzhenrys layout Havent decided which line to install it on yet

That was a paint scheme that was only applied to one GG1 and you are absolutely correct that it was 1937
Fabulous, Ben!

Ok. Got it. In order to get a pantograph spark effect, first install catenary over the layout. Then, crank up the voltage until you can smell ozone and hear the sparks crackling. I was afraid I was going to have to build a random signal generator circuit and find some way to stuff it into the locomotive. Man, there is SO much to learn in this hobby. I wonder if this is the way the fellas in the Brotherhood of the Crappy Basement Layout get their GG1s to spark?

Lol Its a little easier than that Evans Designs has these LED's that look like welders torches Mount them on the pantographs and tap the wires into the marker light circuit
And if anyone doesn’t know, NJHR has really great yearly calendars 🙂
Great video, Ben.......and, the layout looks fabulous. I especially love the clips when it is barreling along on the viaduct!

Nice video BEN!!!👍👍. ALEX did the same job for me it is a wonderful running engine. Enjoy!!!
Suggested next step: directional motorized pantographs, and use the direction signal to trigger the appropriate sparker LED

Marty’s catenary is legend. Can’t wait to see trains running under it again! A fitting tribute to a great man.

That Evans Designs website is a great resource. Thanks for the heads up!

Ron, when I first watched Ben’s video, I’d’ve sworn there was a Tuscan GG1 when it began, and a Brunswick GG1 when it ended. Hence, my remark. Rewatching, I see that the green GG1 is leading for the whole video.
I pull my Fleet of Modernism train with the PRR T1 Duplex.
Great video Ben. Gotta love the whoosh of the GG1 coming right by the camera, and the smooth sounds as it glides along the rails.
