Bought a box of switches. Two are Flyer # 678 and 679, like new. How do I check to see if the work? I know nothing about Flyer. The Lionel and Marx ones have all been checked. Thanks for you help.

The wiring to the turnout is the same as the above diagram. To test, apply 15V across the black and red turnout terminals and then across the green and black. Yellow and black just illuminates the light.
These are somewhat rare with the original packaging and the single controller. The diagram above shows the typical double controller for the 720A turnouts which are packaged as a left/right pair.
I don't think I've ever heard of a 678/679 switch. When was it catalogued and how does it differ from a 720/720A?
They were catalogued four years. The turnout itself is identical to the 720A. The 678 is just one LH and the 679 is just one RH turnout. The packaging is different, smaller box, and the controller is half as wide with a single lever. They are relatively hard to find because few were sold and it requires the unique controller and box to verify it is not just a 720A.
I neglected to include the were catalogued from 1953 through 1956.
I tested both as indicated. Both work fine. Thank you so much!!! I am most appreciative, and learned something in the process.
