Thanks for posting that Nick. A nice upbeat story. Good deal.

Wonderful! If there was ever an excuse to visit the UK again, this is it.
Nice to see a classic back in steam. Perhaps some of the OGR Forum participants might recall that the Flying Scotsman toured the USA in 1970. I saw her and train at the Dearborn Street Station in Chicago, with it's owner, Sir Alan Pegler. And, delightfully, Road and Track Magazine did a road test on her, with 0-60's, etc.! They were impressed!
BTW - "Potrzbe" - - - nice to see the reappearance of a very funny word that regularly appeared in Mad Magazine!
I absolutely love the Flying Scotsman! In my opinion MTH should of made the Flying Scotsman and the A3 class instead of the LMS Princess Coronation/Duchess class. I still have one anyways though.
Nick,
I appreciate your posting a wonderful article about one of railroading's greatest milestone locomotives, Thank you! I have a copy of a original print of her on her record making run in 1934. It hangs in my trainroom for all to see.
The locomotive is scheduled to power the "Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express" on the 23rd:

At present, the locomotive's anticipated workload for 2016 is almost thirty trips. It will be busy for sure as its return to operation as been a very high profile news item.

MTH took on board feedback from the UK market that Flying Scotsman had been done to death in 3 rail O gauge by the likes of Basset Lowke.
The Duchess is a nice model but I can't help thinking that a nice little GWR Pannier tank 0-6-0 might have been a better bet to introduce MTH to the UK market.

I checked the bay for "Flying Scotsman" a little bit ago and saw at least two Basset Lowke editions. I wouldn't give you two cents for them!
I'm not much on MTH locos either, but, I probably would buy a MTH Flying Scotsman.
Due to an unresolved problem with the air compressor, the locomotive will not be powering this Saturday's "Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express" as originally scheduled. Power will instead be double headed Black Fives 44871 and 45407.
