What is the status of the B&M Flying Yankee. I last saw it many years ago at the Edaville Railroad in South Carver, Massachusetts. Were is it now, and what is the plan for its future?

I do believe that "group" has some sort of website, but I don't know what it is. You might try a Google search, as I have only heard "bad things" pertaining to the goings on there.
flyingyankee.com
RYPN Interchange and railroad.net forums have lots of yakking about this, pro and con, just type in "flying yankee restoration" in to the search bar on each forum.
Bottom line: it's been in New Hampshire for 20+ years, it's partially restored, it's under cover, and they need funding.

Naturally, such groups are ALWAYS looking for more and more money, however this group has not done very well using their previous grants and donations. I have a good friend that is retired from EMD, who lives in that area, and has tried to give them help & guidance, to no avail.
I photographed the FY trainset when it was sitting on the roadside in Glen, NH. That was about 1995. Since then it was moved to Claremont, NH and then the Hobo Railway in Lincoln, NH and good progress was made on her restoration, including custom casting some of the original hardware. It seems for that past 6-7 years, the program has run out of steam, or more likely, money.
It is sad that many historical trains are in danger of being lost because they have been poorly stored, dismantled without adequate funding to preserve or restore them and mismanaged by various societies. I am thinking of:
The Flying Yankee
K4 1361
G5s 35 & 39
A Class 1218
I hope 4014 does not meet the same fate.
1218 in danger of being lost? Not likely she is nicely under cover at the VMT. Once the new building is finished, she will reside there based on the latest plans.
Correct, the 1218 is doing just fine. Now operating would be better, but hey at least she is here with us and not scrapped back in the day. And at least NS put her back together cosmetically when the former steam program ended, they could of just left her apart since she was in the middle of her rebuild at the time.
It would be a great accomplishment to have the 1218 run again.
