I am always amazed at guys who will not pay $1-5.00 for some odd ball stuff, but will ask where they can I buy wheels, axles trucks etc. Picked up a crushed Flyer 232 caboose Sunday for $1.00. So far, one handrail has been transplanted to a nice 3110 steeple cab, 3 went in the parts bin. One bearing cover went to a Dorfan wrecker until I find another Dorfan piece, the other 7 are in the parts bin. The roof and all 8 wheels plus the axles went to resurrect a Dorfan caboose for Jeff. The red frame with trucks and hard to find curlie q couplers is in the spares bin for future use. Filled voids on 3 different units so far. Not bad for a buck.

It takes a mental shift to change gears and realize what it is that you're looking for.  I was in need of Ives trucks recently, but they were scarce and when I found them people were asking $50 apiece for them.  It took a slap upside the head to realize that the very beat-up  Ives cars going on eBay for $20 each had TWO trucks... not to mention two couplers and other parts.  Some people think naturally along the lines of "part it out", but it's a different way of looking at things.
