Hi everybody:

Hope you all had a nice Christmas

I'm assuming if I had this minor problem, then I'm probably not the only one

Have had MTH railking for about 14 or so year's. Have 12 engines, and they are PS-1,2,and now 3.

I'm reasonably familiar with all of them, and run them off a Z-4000 on my layout ,and sometime's on my wife's Christmas layout with her Z-750 and Z 1000

Anyway,yesterday Santa got me a BNSF Dash-8.

After lubing, and turning off the smoke unit, and making sure the DCC/DCS switch underneath was in the correct position.(Read,or at least glance over the manual first folks) I put in on my wife's Christmas layout ( I was allowed)

On startup the light goes on,,the super capacitor takes about 10 or so seconds to charge and start up the engine.

Starts up, But no sound.

Try the horn,it works,

Try the bell,it works also

Opened the manual, and decided to do a

RESET TO FACTORY DEFAULTS  which is 1 Horn and 5 Bell in neutral, horn blows twice to conform(I think)

Problem solved

O geez,now we can't take a ride to Just Train's today

I'm sure with no doubt they would have swapped it right out,but my wife would of walked out of there with a $100.00 or so of stuff for her layout.

After thinking about it,

My guess is that maybe they check the different engine functions at the factory with a DCS?

And maybe it wasn't set to default?

I also noticed on Christmas day, and the day or two after that  there were not many loco operating issues on here.

That's a good sign,or after all these years we are all able to figure out all the minor issues with the loco's like I did
