Most likely, a previous owner had anticipated using the trolley's overhead power pole with live catenary to operate the engine.

    Thanks buddy I never though about setting the Street Car up in that manner, on a layout.  Should I Cap or Tape off that bare line end, could it do any harm to leave it bare ended like it is?  Everything seems to be working as required right now.

Would need a picture, but if all other features and lights work it may have been extra or added.  Normally orange is a tach wire and interior lighting wire, depending on where it goes and where its plugged into.  G

If the PCC car works, just insulate that wire from everything else. However, as George says, it would  be good to see a picture.

   Will take the Street Car apart again and snap a couple pictures, probably should have done this to begin with.

     Here are a couple pictures of the Orange wire standing alone inside my P2 Street Car, hope you can advise me as to what to due with it.

In the 1st picture, if you look at the base of the light bulb, you an see the bare end of the Orange wire.  In the 2nd picture the bare wire is laying on the top of the light bulb, you can follow the orange wire from there back into the harness/mess.

Does the bulb light?  For PS-2 controlled lighting, those bayonet bulbs are isolated from the chassis.  So if that is NOT a track powered light, the orange should go to the solder joint on the side of the bulb socket.   G

   George that light works fine, always has, in fact all the lights work perfectly including the Street Car head light.  Could that line have come off of the dual coupling connector, for the Battery/ BCR?

I think for now I am just going to put a very small wire nut on the bare end and reassemble my Street Car, I want to run her.  Don't like the idea of the bare wire flopping around inside the Street Car shell.

Dave, if you follow the wire back, where does it end up at?   I see you have a 5 volt board.  What ga is the wire?

    I did not measure the exact wire Gauge, looks to be 18 however, all the wire looks to be the same gauge inside this P2 Street Car just different colors, it's the exact size that is used for the BCR Cap Connector.  I would need to untangle that bird nest of a wiring harness, to actually see where it finally ends up.

You could just look for an orange wire at one of the connectors to get a hint here...

Looking in the manual for 30-2543-1 on page 15 it shows the wire attached to the side of the light bulb holder.

The charge port is at rear so I think not.  I would wrap.  leave alone if working.  If you trace it's origin we can tell you exactly.  But I would leave it alone.   G

   George that is exactly what I did, I put a small wire nut on it then tucked it back in the harness, so it can not flop around inside the Street Car shell.  The Street Car is still operating fine, and I thank all you guys for helping me with this situation, I appreciate your knowledge big time!

    Thanks of the heads up with the actual in the directions, if I have any problems in the future, I will take a closer look at them myself.
