Trains 4 me 2 Where are your tables?
Been going for 25 years and this will be my first time selling. Orange Hall Row E tables 8&9. Going through my mind is I hope I make a sale and like Vince I have to be crazy to be hauling this stuff 550 miles one way. Oh yeah and I really like see friends I only see once or twice a year.
Vince,
Where do you and Peggy live in Florida? Was in Boca Raton this past January and going back next January for a few weeks.
Ted
Eddie g,
Do you have the tables next to my friends Bill and John on the blue hall?
Ted
I enjoy going and usually would go on Thursday, Friday & Saturday. Since the pandemic and entering semi-retirement, I started going to the bandit meets on Wednesdays. My partner that I run my train show with insisted on it.
So after going once beginning on a Wednesday, I then arrived at the next one on a Tuesday. Now, I will be there Sunday afternoon to be fully prepped to hit the bandit meets on Monday morning. I just love it!!! Even the part when I run into Ted in the halls, either at my tables in the blue hall or anywhere else on the grounds
This will be the first time I will be there for the whole week, but hey, you gotta give things a try in life every once in a while. I'm sure that I will be a little "Trained -Out" when I get home, but a day or two later, I'm Back!!!!!
I have got to now many people in this hobby by going to various train shows, participating in the OGR Forum and operating a train show in Long Island and I just dig it man!!!!
Here's to everyone going to York - Have a safe and pleasant journey to and from, and I hope you find a item you can talk about for years to come!!!!

By happy coincidence, my employer just bought another company to incorporate into ours, and as their vacation policy was better than ours, they had to give us the extra week. So starting with the October '24 York, I can go for the whole week!
I think that this is also the first time I have ever replied to one of my own posts...

Yippie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
John, only semi-retired? Life is grand being retired from the daily work bs! I use to go on Wednesday to Saturday but not on Sunday to Saturday. The misses does not like staying by herself that many nights!
So… I make my York get away for 2 days now.
I’m sure to see you in one of the halls. Go Jets again this year!

Congrats. Having your employer getting bought is usually bad for the employees - don't ask how I know this. Now maybe they'll offer a generous early-retirement package.

It is somewhat of a mixed bag for the employees at the other company -- they have to be at work an extra half hour a day and their start time is a little later, but they gained a 15 minute break and an extended lunch break, and they now will have a better retirement plan. And for us at the parent company, the long term employees like myself got the extra vacation week immediately, and the others will earn it if they stick around long enough.

I'm in DD-4 . We are in a 20 x 30 this meet. One day I'll be back in a 30 x 30.
I've been to York 29 times since 2000 ... and I live in Santa Barbara, so it's 5.5 - 7.0 hour plane trip each way (+ another 1-2 hours to the airport - and back!) plus all the other things that travel entails. Hello, Southwest Airlines!
It's always been about the group of friends I have from all over the country (including several in the N.E. - "Hi, Ted B.!"), our semi-annual dinners (usually two per York), and the TRAINS. And, I always visit the Fairgrounds on each of the days the Meet is open - and usually catch at least one day of the Bandits and TCA Museum. Never boring. Never disappointed. And, I never take a day off during the typical 10-day trip.
I take time on almost each trip to visit historic and cultural sites, and, each April, to see MLB and MiLB baseball on the east coast. Yep. Usually, quite a bit of driving.
Time (and money) very well spent.

All this talk about Giraffe cars makes me think I should bring along my corral. I'm in Blue Hall, tables E 44-47.
I go to York to spend some nice time with my wife, my son, and his wife but my son and wife can't make this trip as they were just transferred to Georgia. I guess I'll just have to have my wife keep me company. She much better looking than me and much more personable.
