Fresh from the halls of York ...known for the largest gathering of tinplate twice a year ...some scale does sneak in. A friend texted at opening of the halls ..there one if those old scale sets you like over here ...bee line to make the score ...K4 and a string of frieght cars ...that appear to have also been togther as a set .
PRR K4 built by Fred Icken ( signature hand painted builder plate over painted ..) ...unique suspension on center driver, double gear reduction drive ...all enclosed ...you know how you can always see the drive shaft , or gears or motor, huge hole under boiler ....not here ...all tightly fitted ...motor marked Icken ...Fred helped design the K&D motors.
Cars are Ed Alexander ...mixture of sheet brass and cast alumium...some hand lettered others stenciled ....
"Automatic" coulpers ...or so advertised as such ..auto to couple .. hand of God to uncouple,
After some break in time ..(was wrapped in 1978 newspapers...heaven knows when it last ran ..)...K4 was very happy logging some revenue miles to make up for lost decades in the dark.
Running with outside 3rd rail..circa 1933 .
