Whoever comes will have to look real close, because sometimes we use piano wire.

If Rich shows up I'll buy him lunch.  That is the least I can do for him after putting up with me for the past 20 years.

Now wait a minute! That comment doesn't include me does it?

There were no "disgruntled former UP employees" there a few weeks ago( that I'm aware of) when I met Jim

Probably not, but then I was never a "UP employee", disgruntled or otherwise.

As far as seeing an "lash-ups", all I can say is that there better NOT be any while I'm there!

I glad you don't feel that strongly about a "configuration of locomotives".

Jack, there are some on this forum that believe you were born disgruntled.  But I know that is not true.  Many would be very shocked to find out that in the 10 years we shared a room you never once complained about my snoring.

I am sure that is going to raise a few questions.  Have fun explaining that one.

I just gonna sit back and watch.

Snoring? Heck, I was asleep long before you anyway.

Thanks to SanteFeJim and all the members of the Hi-Rail Modular Train Club.  We had a great breakfast and a super time at the layout.

I was very impressed with their new 20 track yard.  I forgot to ask how long it is, but it easily was storing whole trains of longer than average length.  When they are completely finished with all the access tracks to their triple-track mainline and crossovers, it is going to be awesome.  It will allow them to enter or leave the yard in either direction and to any of the three mainline tracks.

The new steel mill complex is outstanding!  WOW! WOW!

I have a lot of pictures that I will post later when I can process them.

If you haven't taken the time to visit this layout, you really need to plan a trip to see it.  They will be open until 5:00 PM today and from 10:00 AM till 5:00 PM tomorrow.

Art

Art and Jim,

It was great to finally meet you guys face-to-face and share lots of good 'ol model railroading ideas.  Next time you come, bring something to run.  We have two extra storage tracks about 36 feet long so it should be able to handle all passenger trains and most freight trains.

We will be closed for the whole month of July as there are more renovations scheduled for the layout and the rest of the room.  Wiring, overhead lighting, and other boring but necessary stuff.

So... we invite everybody to come out tomorrow.  We only have 3 open house dates in June.

Anyone in the area sitting on the fence about visitng, be it known to all men that this place is worth the trip!!

Spent a couple hours at the Chicagoland Lionel club this afternoon. I'd like to come out tomorrow. Not sure I could pull that off with the wife though.

I see by your zip code that you are only 33 minutes away.  So come on out.

Riverrailfan,

Bring the wife. I brought my wife and kids and even my wife was impressed. After seeing this layour her comment was, "I can see we're going to need a bigger basement!"

They have a nice lounge area to sit and relax so it's easy to spend lots of time hanging out and noone is cramped for space.

Chugman - Where are those photos!! Looking forward to the scenes you captured this time. Thanks!

Hey, you don't know if you don't try.  Take her out for a nice breakfast, then an enjoyable ride only to discover that you are suddenly in Griffith Indiana and you can say "I think there is a pretty decent layout around here let me go inside this building and ask".  After a few minutes come back out to the parking lot and tell her how surprised you are that the layout is RIGHT HERE.  Tell her this is her lucky day and on the way home you MUST buy her some LOTTO tickets.

If none of the above stuff works, that is okay... you still got to visit our layout.
