If the wording "in stock" is the catch, then it is quite misleading, because how can an item possibly ship if it is not first "in stock"?

Surprised I missed that exclusion. How are they on freight charges? One diesel loco boxed.
Good to know Charlie!
I tried to place a 180 dollar order clicking on a flashing banner above stating FREE Shipping above 150.
Checkout did not deduct the 18.00 shipping.
No email reply. Guess he doesn’t want my business.
No wonder he’s closing.
Looks like a trick offer. "No restrictions." Only in-stock items. I bet it doesn't apply to international shipping. So there are restrictions.
Why don't you guys call Nassau and ask rather than speculating on whether it's a "Trick" or not. Charlie is a stand up guy.
MartyE,
I agree Charlie is a stand up business man and his business spells out exactly what he is doing, all you need to do is read or ask him exactly what his policy is prior to purchasing, he has a good honest business, never had a problem dealing with his business.

An EXCELLENT suggestion!!!! However, doing such, would take all the fun out of posting for many of these guys.

I second.

You could always shop elsewhere.
Nassau Hobbies is a well established business, since 1946 and due to their good reputation, amongst other good reasons, are why they are still in business.
My wife and I have bought many items from Nassau Hobbies, throughout the years.
I have a 1950 Lionel Scout Set and in the back of the instruction booklet Nassau Hobbies is listed amongst others hobby shops, but unlike Nassau Hobbies, most are now out of business.
As soon, as we moved into Nassau County in 1973, we just had to pay a visit to Nassau Hobbies, due to my seeing their listing in the booklet, which peaked my curiosity.
And we have been more than satisfied.

Nassau is my go to for Lionel pre-orders, and I live out west.
You really don't have to read between the lines with their shipping policy because it's as plain as day. What part of "in stock" don't you understand? No subterfuge or shenanigans there - pretty straightforward to me.
I have 2 Lionel LEGACY SD40s preordered through Nassau. They're $520 each. Do you really think I care if I can get free shipping and save about $20 when I'm spending over $1,000?
