Hi all

I ordered the Frisco Meteor from Lionel a couple of months ago and it should be arriving in the next few months. However, the catalog did not offer any passenger cars (I understand the Meteor was a passenger train?). I tried to contact Lionel to see ask if they plan on making anything for the Meteor in the future, but no answer.

Do you guys have any suggestions of what I can have the Meteor pull?

Frisco's "Meteor" when diesel powered, carried red and silver streamlined cars painted like those of Katy's "Texas Special."

Here is an aerial photo of the "Meteor" in the early 1950's, several miles west of Tulsa, on its way to Oklahoma City. There is a B&O sleeper in the train. It is a through car from New York. Frisco also provided one of their sleepers that ran through from Oklahoma City to New York on the B&O, via St. Louis.

In steam, the train was made up of Pullman Green cars until very late.  When the 4500s came along, some cars were painted Zephyr Blue, white, and gray, but the cars were most often mixed.  There was also delay at the onset of the diesels, the train car sets arriving some weeks after the engines.

No one has yet offered a set of scale Frisco heavyweights to the best of my knowledge, but they are needed for both that engine and the ersatz 1501 from the previous catalog, not to mention the two runs of ten-wheelers.
