Howdy Friends!

I'm a new TMCC user and admit to my newbie status ... but this issue has me puzzled. I have a new (old stock) Century Club II M10000 and I'm quite fond of it. It ran fine out of the box using TMCC control. Now when I turn on the throttle it goes from stop to about 60 MPH without any speed steps in between. What have I done? What can I do? Is this electronic? or operator error?

Thanks for any help.

First off, do NOT try to run this anymore before checking what is wrong.

If this is the 6-51007 set, the top suspect is a broken magnet ring on the Odyssey motor, it's a very common failure.  The glue loses it's grip, and the gray magnet ring shatters.  If you look inside and find pieces of the ring, that's the issue.  The magnet ring is the gray part of the flywheel on the motor picture below.

The ring can also just be loose, if that's the case, you can use CA adhesive to glue it back in place.

The motor is listed as unavailable from Lionel, but there is a flywheel repair kit that consists of the flywheel and the magnet ring.  You need a flywheel puller to remove the old flywheel, the new one has a set screw.

No surprise there.   Here are the two parts you'll need.

You will have to pull the old flywheel off the motor to do the replacement.  One tip:  Do NOT use any sort of impact puller or try to drive the armature shaft out with a punch!  This will usually destroy the motor!

You need a wheel puller to pull the old flywheel off, or send it to someone that has the correct tool.
