Very nice, Bob!
WSL #8 is headed back up the hill for another load of logs. It is taking a boxcar full of dynamite up there to extend the track further up the hill.

Happy Front End Friday everyone! This week on the layout, I'm running a motley assortment of locomotives, starting with my MTH New Haven Alco PA set. Hmm, that's not snow on the front bonnet... I need to finish my spring cleaning this weekend.
I'm also running my Baldwin DR6 Dual Cab. This is an older "Kustom" that I built several years ago. I still love how those pinstripes came out though.
Last but not least, I'm running my newest front end-- a LIRR Morris Shop "critter" in a fantasy LNE livery. I did a whole writeup on this locomotive last weekend.
Here's the video. Stay safe with the eclipse this weekend-- lots of folks might be stumbling around with tinted glasses on!

My front-end-view for this Front-End-Friday, April 5, 2024, includes two locomotives. As a fan of the New Haven Railroad, I bought two MTH Premier GE 44-ton diesel switchers (20-20470) with NH road numbers 0807 and 0815. Photos and video show them running double-headed on my 10’-by-5’ layout.

Thanks Mel. That's exactly the frame of reference I had for my urban layout, having spent my youth there. Coming from such an outstanding modeler like you, I really appreciate the comment. Of course, the #1 train never ran on the elevated lines in Queens, but hey, these are the liberties one takes with their layouts!

Only a subway expert or a "strap hanger" would know that... My Mom used to take me from Astoria to Macy's 34th Street on the subway but we moved to Long Island when I was eight. That's when I began watching and riding on the LIRR, another of my favorites. So, I'll follow up with a front-end view of a Long Island locomotive.

Great Backdrop and photo skills!
Though the Great Northeastern Railway's motive power is primarily steam and electric, we have a small Diesel fleet and are occasionally visited be far-western railway equipment. So, today on FEF, we feature the Lionel, post-war, Santa Fe, A-B-A, F-3 Diesel.
