Here's my ends of the front kind for this very fine Friday! K line box cab front end and a Lionel 0-8-0 front end with the front end of a K line A5 shoving a caboose.
Ken, I spy a Menard's Cavana in the background.
Mark that RK GP20 sure has a lot more detail than my MPC era Chessie GP20.

Hey Vern, did you just add crew members or a whole cab insert?

Maybe the headlights are not on at the moment, but here is my motive power ready to roll on the layout today:

Well whadaya know? These guys also man the cab of my Union Pacific Legacy F7A. I ordered a couple of extras from Lionel parts to install into my Williams Santa Fe and Union Pacific ALCO FA-1s. Had to do some surgery removing the front panel and the lower part of the motor shroud to accommodate that Williams incandescent light bulb which is right smack in the way. That's when the Dremel attachments come in handy. 😉
Good eye!

Sorry Coach, I must have missed seeing your post. See above. I had to get the whole cab insert, then cut it up to fit.

had to do similar surgery on mine for a RS3 too.
It's about time the CN C-Liner came into service after several years in the box. New battery, oiled , and greased ready for duty to rescue those beer reefers full and ready to roll! Great sounds from the lead engine...

Vern I just couldn't tell if I was seeing that curved back wall or not.

Yep, it’s there fitting nicely around the front motor. I just had to cut out the bottom portion of it, so it would fit over the headlight bulb.
Happy FEF
This NJ Department of Transportation GG1 followed me home from YORK. A GG1 that I didn’t have on my roster.
CR retired their freight fleet of GG-1's in 1979, but NJDOT-contracted GG-1's 4872-4884 saw their operating days extended to the fall of 1983.

Getting ready to set up displays and demos at a local STEAM festival. That is STEM with an A for the Arts. Not sure I agree with that, but it is not my event. Here are two freight haulers on the ready line, the hare and the tortoise.

What are my options for converting this conventional engine. All it has is an electronic E-unit. A G horn, maybe revs and brakes would be nice. I guess a step up would be train control.

Bob- Does your engine have pullmors or can motors? It it's can motors then I refer you to my Weaver RS3 upgrade. I used a Lionchief/ Bluetooth board. Not sure if Lionel has done an electric in the LC line but it's an option.
If it has pullmor motors then a ERR AC Commander would be in order.

Buy another GG1 with the innards you want and swap shells.

Bob,
My error; I never said that this is a K-Line engine. It has two vertical motors. There was an option for TMCC; but this unit wasn’t equipped.

Bob(s) - Lionel has issued a traditional sized GG1, in LC 2.0+. No idea if a shell swap across the K-Line and Lionel brands would work.

Thanks Mark,
That’s a pretty expensive fix. @Apples55 You’re not talking to Paul here.

As long as it has DC motors, then a LC/BT board would work. The motors would have to be wired in series since these boards only have 1 motor output.

Thanks Mark. 2.0+ needs the feedback loop that I mentioned. Only LC/BT boards or original LC boards are kind of plug-n-play.
The experts can weigh in but I think when Lionel started adding Legacy features to LC they had to add the feedback which improves speed control.

Say what??? How did I get involved in this??? I am a proud self-confessed techno-peasant who would NEVER mess with electronics (I’d probably burn the engine down ). Also, as many of you know, I don’t do conventional
Have a great start of your weekend, by a Veteran a beer or two.
