Don't touch the shoes!
@Don McErlean posted:@RSJB18 - Bob the aluminum painted UP M10,000 was available from 1934-1936. IAW the extensive Greenberg reference for 1929-1936 yours would be from 1934 as the word gauge on the tag between the pick ups is spelled incorrectly. Apparently in 1934 it was inadvertently spelled "GUAGE" (as yours is) but corrected from 1935 on. With one 753 coach and one 754 observation it was catalogued as Outfit 751 E and the loco was marked 752 E on the side. The original price was $19.95 (about $400 in today's money). In 1934 there was NO whistle option however in 1935 Outfit 751W was offered with a whistle. It is rated as quite rare, with a rarity ranking of 6 out of 8 where 8 is something that may exist as only 1 piece, so it is very rare. Great collectable for certain.

And the resident O GUAGE...... historian comes through once again.
I hadn't spotted the misspelling until it was mentioned when I got it, but didn't mention it today. I figured it was an early set and that Lionel would have corrected the nameplate in later versions.
I have a build/ restoration thread with more background and history of these sets. The fact that this set may be as rare as you say makes it even better.
Thanks Don.

Don't step on my Blue Suede Shoes.......
Happy Front End Friday all! This week on the layout, I am reviewing my small collection-within-a-collection of Marx Commodore Vanderbilts. From left to right, you are looking at:
Electric CV with hooded bulb lens. This has copper side plates and a prewar motor.
Clockwork CV with reversible clockwork motor. Early version of motor has screw-in key.
Clockwork CV with ringing bell. One of the most common Marx CVs found.
Clockwork CV with ringing bell and sparkle mechanism. The grinder wheel and flapping flint holder are present, but the flint itself is long worn off.
Electric CV with swing peg coupler and manual reverse unit.
Here's the earliest and rarest of the variations running on the track with some suitable cars.

tnkMarx the weathering on that overhead door behind the loco is really well done.

My views for Front-End-Friday, August 9, 2024 show Long Island Rail Road Alco RS-1 #462 by MTH Railking (30-20894-1, MSRP $399.99, PS3) getting closer to the camera on the back straight of my 10’-by-5’ model railroad. The engine emerges from the tunnel’s south portal, crosses the truss bridge, runs behind the Idaho Hotel, and enters the south curve at Trumbull Junction. The operating track is just an oval. A single view of #462 at New Haven signal station SS71 also shown.

Now that this little 040 Lionchief switcher is being run with Lionel Legacy controllers and the new APP using the Base3 like it’s other Lionel Pals, it almost looks like it’s smiling:

Here is a Lionel 253 in what collectors sometimes call "Stephen Giraud" green, although I believe that Lionel just called it "light green" or "Apple" green. This pictured scheme 1932-1934. The 253 was made for a considerable number of years (1924-1936), in many colors and configurations. It also came as a 253E with an E-Unit reverse, this unit is just a 253 with a manual reverse.
It came in a set with a pair of matching color 607 Pullmans and a 608 Observation.
Happy Friday, hope you have a great weekend.

Don, that engine and cars are in excellent condition for their age. I am no way a collector, but I find your collection and history always interesting. Thanks for sharing.

@Genemed - Thank you for your comment and the kind words. I am glad you enjoy the posts, thanks again.

8-08-2024 Years ago, the CNJ received new (ex-B&O) SD-40 diesels to help move the freight...
3 of these new diesels have left the E'port paint shop and are hauling a coal train to the Jersey City Pier #18 coal dumper.
CNJ #3063-3066-3067 are recent Weaver repaints by Christine Braden and some operational rebuilds by Gunrunner John.
Great job Christine and John!
Passing RMT's CNJ caboose #91545 Gotta find an O-gauge water jug for the hood! Taken from a track spanning signal bridge.
Crossing the 5 track mainline diamond at RU Tower E'port, NJ. All RMT Super Snap track!
Enjoy.

Viewed from the front-end this Friday, August 16th, 2024 is New York Central 0-4-0 steam switcher #901 – an MTH Premier model (20-3261-1, MSRP $599.95) with PS2 delivered in 2007. But this little engine looks good from any angle. Another copy of #901 is currently advertised on Forum sponsor Trainz in like-new condition at a price of more than $600.

Happy FeF and to a long relaxing weekend, all!
I finished upgrading #650 with ESU LokSound 5 DCC and LED lighting this week and have it running to check out. I still have some more details to install and lightly weather but very pleased with how nice those LokSound decoders operate.
