The truss bridge at the rear of the layout was scratch-built from basswood strips of various cross-sections. Here are closeup views. 24-inch span.

Atlas O sells two kits for 36-inch truss bridges - single-track and double-track.

The trestle at the front of the layout is also scratch-built - similar to the truss.

Starting us off a little early this week.  Got some photos of my newest steam locomotive.  Now to kit bash some cars for this unique train.  The Valley Flyer was short lived, but it was a very pleasing attempt at some simple streamlining of this early Pacific.

Here's my ends of the front kind for this fine Friday!

My front-end view for April 12, 2024 is New York Central Railroad P-2b box cab electric motor #223, an MTH Premier model (20-5507-1, MSRP $599.95) delivered with PS1 in December 1999. It’s a large, heavy die-cast model in New York Central’s “lightning-stripe” livery.

Photos and video show #223 on my 12’-by-8’ model railroad pulling three heavyweight lightning-stripe passenger cars by MTH.

Happy Front End Friday all! This week on the layout, I'm running some 1930s streamliners, starting with my Railking Pennsy Torpedo.

I've finally got my custom built E2 City of Los Angeles back in service after a lengthy rebuild! This locomotive is a custom designed body on top of the drivetrain from a Railking E8 set. Now that I've finally fixed the problem with its trucks, it runs better than ever.

Here's another front end photo that shows off the decals on the E2's nose (the chrome silver paint is super reflective even under the matte clearcoat). The City of San Francisco's livery paid homage to all of the railroads whose tracks it crossed.

Thanks for sharing the info on the homage with the livery to all the railroads on this very interesting custom  E2.     Deffinetly rather unique......at least to my eyes.          Nice build sir .

I got it as a donor for a clockwork with a broken spring. Just horsing around.

Old work. A bit banged-up.

Williams brass 4-6-2, presented as one of the L&N's two streamlined USRA K-5 Pacifics. My first "big" loco project, as I recall. Late 90's, I suppose. Has TAS TMCC and sound.  The headlight fairing is a piece of clear plastic turned on a lathe, then painted black except for the "lens".

There was a similar L&N K-6 Pacific (formerly a 3-cylinder) that received a similar treatment.

Happy Front End Friday everyone! This week on the layout, I'm running both of my Legacy locomotives, starting with my Boston and Maine SW8.

I'm also running my favorite steam engine, my Lionmaster Legacy Duplex.

Here's the video of both engines running on my layout. The sharp-eyed among you may notice that I have added something new to my layout this week-- it's not running on the track, but it is in this video!
