This is from about three years ago, they have some kind of a railfest, I forget the real name. I just could not miss seeing one of my favorite Pennsy's on the line. I will post a few more that made it by that day later.

That will be cool, depending on how far down the line it goes it could pass within miles of the farm. I have ridden on the curve many times taking trips to New York. If you get out and walk outside of the park there are a lot of great views. However most people just visit the park.

I will have to pay attention this coming year for the steam.

I recollect that Conrail allowed some volunteers to cut back the brush and trees in the mid to late 1990's.  I'd bet that was the last time it was done.

Hello Everybody,

I witnessed the 765 on Horseshoe in 2013 and around several other areas between Tyrone and Gallitzin and it was fantastic. Hats off to her crew.

My wife asked me if I wanted to ride on the train and my reply was no I just want to listen to her and that I did and i was not disappointed.

Does anybody know whats going on with K4 1361?

Everything seems to have gotten quite again. I know her tender is in Altoona at the Altoona Railroader Museum but that's about all I know.

I realize it would be a great challenge to get her back out onto the rails, but like the 765 it would be a great day!!!!!!

In the steam era of the curve the PRR had the brush cut and flowers planted in case sparks drifted from the firebox or smokestack causing a fire. It must've been fantastic in summer! They had a pride in the curve that has become lost in modern times replaced by pure functionality.

A local club might get permission from the NS rr to clear brush but with liability issues it's not going to happen. The museum at least cuts the lawn and keeps stuff in the soda machine!

Had a similar problem several years back.  A local Boy Scout troop wanted to paint a rusty overpass in Hampton, NJ.  I think it was resolved by raising money and paying NJ Transit to do it.
