If I had simply followed the website instructions I would have found the building in no time. But no, I had to blaze my own trail following Google Maps on my iPhone. So after 30 minutes of wandering around Angels Gate Park I finally found the club building. The building is long (maybe 60 ft) so I was able to see something I had never seen before: long engines with long consists of long cars (Matt had some really long auto carrier cars) traveling on a straight section. AGR Matt was there and I was able to finally meet someone else from the forum. He gave me a tour of the club and layout and talked shop with me for about 30 minutes. The high point of the visit was the opportunity to see some of Dave O'Connor's fantastic scratch building work. Also got to meet Dave in person and see the sand cast bronze kit built 4-6-0 he just completed and pictured on the website -- talk about heavy!

The only down side was finding out I no longer could use the "small layout excuse" for not spending 4 figures on a big Legacy or MTH Premier S2 Turbine since I could join and run it at the club. That's ok though, Matt promised he would give me proven tips on how to hide large train purchases from the wife!

A great place to visit with great people if you're into o gauge and live in So Cal.  Will be going back again soon myself.
