imageI would like use a wall to transition the top level down to the main. I would liketo use the fiber instead of the cardboard and plaster cloth method. My question is what to use for backing for the 7" span. Is anyone using this product? I am making rock castings to put on the slope, and would like it fairly steep to save real estate on the bottom.

I'm using it right now but only on horizontal surfaces. I'm putting it on pink foam covered with mesh drywall tape and some areas of painted homasote.  If you haven't already bought the stuff yet the instructions say it will stick to homasote, foam if it's covered with mesh joint tape or any other porous surface. Nice stuff and I would guess it would stick to a vertical surface.

use a very stiff cardboard on that vertical space.  mix fusionfiber in consistency so it sticks to a spoon when held upside down. it will spread on cardboard.  You may need to do in sections so you can hold hand against back. Use adhesive drywall tape to hold sections together.

Anther way is too spread on pre cut cardboard first ,  add some adhesive drywall tape tabs, wait a day then while still a bit wet, but firm lay cardboard against the space, then cover seam with more fusion fiber to blend.

 getting fancy...
