My wife got me a new Lionel scale GG1 for Christmas. Before I ran it, I oiled all the wheel bearings and lubricated all the gears. I was wondering if I should open it up and re-lube the gear boxes for both motors. I know it was made back in 2005 so it's been sitting awhile. The GG1 does not have any grease holes on the bottom for the gear boxes. How often do you open your gear box to lubricate it?
It's an awesome engine. Sounds, smoke, pantagraphs are all great. It's no big boy but I am really enjoying it.
