Club member Larry came up today from SC to run some long trains. He has almost exclusively MTH Premiere equipment and favorites are Seaboard, Southern, and Atlantic Coast Line.  Today it was TRIO of powered PS3 ACL Geeps heading up a 12 car passenger consist. I met him with a pair of Legacy Santa Freight units and we had a nice afternoon of it!

He had a pair of MTH REA cars ahead of the ACL Heavyweights

The running sounds of the MTH and Lionel units are very different - both excellent but different.

Today the three powered ACL units made quite a 'rumble'...

I have quite a bit of good video of this showing the long passenger consist taken with my iPad but don't know how to download it and post it!

I'm a fan of Geeps, too. They're great alone with a few cars in tow, or in a consist with a longer train. That's my big fear in the next MTH catalog -- a bunch of Geeps in roads I like at the same time. I have three CNW Premier Proto-1 CNW GP9's and a pair of Proto-2 GP9's (Rail King from old Premier tooling) I've picked up over the past several years on eBay. The ones that follow are the first ones I bought new.

I renumbered this one because they shipped me three with the same road number. I renumbered two of the three, then lucked into another road number. One of these days I'll consist all four of them with a long freight, but for now I only run them in pairs.

Nice pictures, hope you figure out how to post the video. I think you can connect to a PC and transfer the files that way, but I have never tried it?

I really like the colors on those ACL engines. Something different, I have been tempted to get one, but have pretty much been able to stick to my chosen road name so far and these haven't got me yet. May be getting close though, I have had a couple of weak moments. Mike Wolf must also like the ACL, the colors look awfully familiar for some reason.

We used 'Modge Podge' which I don't recommend. We've noticed  that after some time it would become cloudy and often 'bubbled' or blistered. Our club layout is in an unheated warehouse and the lack of humidity control is the likely culprit.
