George H. Drury of Milwaukeey passed away June 21st after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.
Although he most recently wrote for Railfan and Railroad, George was best known for his previous work at Kalmbach, where he was responsible for the publication of a lot of articles in TRAINS, several books including his heroic Guide to North American Steam Locomotives, and for the production of Kalmbach's "Golden Years" series of softcover books.
I had the privilege of working with George on a couple of projects for Kalmbach.
He will be remembered as a dedicated rail historian, a terrific editor and writer, and just as an all-around good guy.
He is missed.
