I’m about to get the background scenes done on one side of my layout. I won’t do the foreground until each scene is detailed. The old Southern caboose has been the office for The Caboose Track for a long time but the guys are finally getting a cover the work under. The red wood shed is the paint shop, it is built with coffee stirring sticks. The gas station is ready for details and feed mill need a few more details too. All structures are scratch built. Scenery is not my thing but I have learned a lot from this forum.

Thanks, Malcolm

Dave,

I took another pic of the cab in place. It was one I dropped about 3 batches ago. The back side was damaged but that did not matter in this case.

The silo is a throwback to “Boy’s Life” magazine as it started life as an oatmeal box. It was covered with Clever model corrugated metal that I printed. I then weathered it with craft paint. I used burnt umber, Pueblo red and raw sienna. After that it was sprayed with a heavy coat of Krylon flat clear acrylic it magically blends all the weathering colors together. The vines are glue and ground foam.

Thank you for all the encouraging comments. I have to admit the blue paint on the backdrop is about 1/8” thick in a few places where I painted over mistakes. I finally gave up and left them as they were. The background trees are done mainly with sponges. This is only about 25% of my layout and it is not finished yet so still lots to go but I purchased a whole gallon of the blue paint.
