Back in 1973, I was a co-operative education student with the U.S. Coast Guard in Washington, D.C.  One weekend, I took the train pulled by a GG1,to Baltimore.  The speed limit was 100 mph for the GG1’s, but I timed the mileposts and calculated a speed of 120 mph.  I asked the conductor what our speed was and he replied 100 mph.  I asked him why the mileposts were 30 seconds apart for the last 6 miles.  He looked at me, winked, and said, “Shhhh!”.

Amazing photos, when we railfanning the Enola and Harrisburg yards atleast once a month, we always stop by to see her and say hi. Somewhere, I have a picture of an Aem-7 and ACS-64 posing side by side with the GG1. Somethings to notice, the GG1 is under live wire at the station. Heads up, the parking lot next to Harris Tower down the street is an amazing spot for easy railfanning. Caught NS 911, 8099, and 1073 (All at Different Times) going through here and going to the wye behind the station.
