Were the corner clearance lights always red on the GG1? I am going to upgrade mine to l.e.ds and want to get it right. Tom

Those are classification lights, not clearance lights. They would be:
Off/Dark - Regularly sheduled train, no sections following or the last section of a multiple-section train.
Green - First section or following sections of a multiple section train.
White - Extra, unscheduled train.
Red - Rear of trailing unit in pusher service or possibly rear of light engine movement.

I must admit that during my "early years" in New Jersey (late 1940s thru late 1950s), I never saw those class lights illuminated anyway.

Rusty, Sorry about miss naming the lights. I knew clearance wasn't right but couldn't remember proper name. Duh!! Thanks for the info. Tom
The PRR dropped Rule 95 from their rule book at some time prior to 1957.
The result is that NO sections could be run - one scedule, one train.
Therefore, green lights would never be displayed.

Very interesting. When I lived in PA.(many moons ago) I don't remember them be illuminated either. Tom
