I got the following email from Scott Mann:

Dear Valued GGD Customer:

The Santa Fe El Capitan cars are going into production. We have given the factory your order which is being made specifically to your reservation. Please review the attached Pickup Notice. If there are no changes, please return this notice with your Payment Information. Pictures of these cars will become available as production progresses in December and January. February delivery is expected.

Thank You, Scott Mann

In addition to the email there was a confirmation sheet to verify my order.

Now that, Boys and Girls, is the RIGHT way to do business.

Based on the wording of the email, it sounds like the Amtrak version didn't happen... is that a correct assumption?

Yes. Apparently once folks figured out that there were no CORRECT models available of the diesel units that hauled the train in the Amtrak era, not enough reservations were forthcoming for the Amtrak passenger cars.

For the people that wanted an Amtrak version, you could always by the El Capitan and have one of the outstanding custom painters (on this forum) paint the cars for you.

As for the motive power... I am not an Amtrak fan but those that are should be able to find a solution.

Just my 2 cents.

The Amtrak cars are still listed on the Golden Gate Depot website for reservations. Maybe the Santa Fe cars will be made first followed by the Amtrak cars? Or the notice was sent to those who ordered the Santa Fe set but not Amtrak.
