I wanted to share my new GGD Pocahontas set I got today from NormsOscale. Also have a coach and sleeper coming from public delivery track. My 2 rail layout is in the works so excuse my display shelf.

I must say these are beautiful passenger cars definitely worth the money.

I will be pulling these cars with the new N&W 611 and water in the MTH 2016 catalog when they come in. I do hope to add another car or two as well.

Thank you

Brandon.

Your cars are great, Brandon!  I have an MTH Imperial J 611.  The PFA announcement says Pocahontas.  I bought a used Lionel 2-car set with a combine and a Pocahontas observation car.  I spent a good part of my 45 years in HO and N scales trying to be prototypically correct.  I got tired of that.  Since I run them on my fictitious Appalachian Lines railroad, they are good enough for me.

All that said, I agree it would be nice if the manufacturers would make the correct car and engine for the correct railroad, especially for big name trains.  However, I am happy with compromise.  Chances are running them in my home, I will be the only one who will ever know the difference.  If I take them to a show, I will expect someone to comment on them.  I will give the answer above.

My thoughts exactly there good enough for me.   Might not be exact, but there the closest thing I can afford to exact. Lol

Gilly have you gotten your Powhatan Arrow yet?

The only time a saw a water bottle behind a N&W J pulling passenger trains was with excursions.   Your train you so you do what you like!!!

I appreciate that you respect my wishes to run a canteen and not criticize me for it. Lol

Yes, the N&W put canteens behind the J class locomotives when they were bumped from passenger assignments and into freight service.  But, to each his own, I guess.

Hot water is this photo from the 1950s or 1980s?

thanks.

Not from the 1950s, as that is the crew car behind the auxiliary tender. Also note the twin sealed beam headlight on the auxiliary. Besides, I never saw an N&W canteen with that beautiful red stripe & lettering, back in 1957.

Didn't think it was. Just wanted an expert opinion.

Thanks

The picture from the N&W HS shows the dog house added to the J tender and the water bottle attached.   The dog house was for the brakeman working local freights.  All this took place in the late 50s as the Js were removed from passenger service as the rental E units and GP-9 passenger versions were being delivered.  Notice how dirty the J is.  For years the only picture we saw of the J with a dog house on the tender was one headed to Appomattox VA to work local freight and it was producing the worst black smoke you had ever seen.

Nope, not yet. I did getting a shipping notification showing a shipping label had been printed. Beyond that, nothing.

Scott's post is interesting, but I don't think he was referring to the unskirted Powhatan Arrow sets just received by GGD.
