I was looking thru my giant box of OGR magazines last night, as I find they have an unlimited re-read value, as my tastes change (every month?), and going back and reading articles on subjects I was previously not interested in, but am now, is wearing out my OGR issues!

My all time favorite OGR article is from July 2010 run 243 - on "The Legendary Sante Fe F-3", and all of its releases over the years.

Also, my all time favorite Editorial from OGR, is Allan Millers editorial on how he got into O Gauge trains (I dont recall the month/year/run).

What is your favorite OGR Issue, Article, or Editorial?

After 10 years I am going through EVERYTHING we packed for our move in 2002. I am doing this in part because we put it all in the basement....and now that I am building a layout....time came to unpack!!!

I found a stash of pre 2002 OGR magazines. Looking through a few copies I did find a very different....not better or worse.......magazine. Many manufactures that are gone or changed owners. (big full page Williams ads) Many of the big name sellers that are gone or no longer have 3 page ads.

This is not a 'the hobby is dying' post so please don't go there.....but it was a very graphic way to see the CHANGE that has taken place. A little time capsule if you will.

Recently I have picked up old issues of MR and OGR and great reading !! Definitely different. the old ones are thicker, more ads and good articles.  Seems like there were more smaller manufacturers and importers back in the 80-90s too. I think the internet has had a lot to do with it. At one time the brass was imported now most everything is. Still a great hobby with great people.
