GN W-1 ELECTRIC.

This is one large electric engine (25.5" not counting couplers).

Like the Y-1 electric, the shell is cast metal.

They did a nice job of painting as those thin yellow strips aren't easy to do (I painted an HO version and they were even smaller!).

GN only had two of these.  If I remember correctly, all wheels were powered and it was equivalent to a big boy.

The cab sat so high that, when GN first got them, the crew were ducking when they went through the first tunnel.

When the diesels replaced the electrics, I believe UP took them and used them for one of their turbines.

There's a lot of overhang on the 72" curves.

Nice looking engine.  I would love to have one but since the boxcab is already too big for my layout the W-1 is definitely out of the picture.  The short video was nice.  The sound of the wheels crossing the rail joints was very realistic.  The train seemed to go on forever, how many cars was that thing pulling?
