i just saw this post from the California Division of Wildlife. A UP train crew found a Golden Eagle wedged inside the snowplow of a freight that had just arrived in Oakland (I think) from Utah. How it landed in there is anybody’s guess. They pulled the diesel off line and into the shop where a bunch of UP workers removed the snowplow to free the bird. They had already brought in Wildlife people to take care of the bird. It was in pretty decent shape (remarkably) and will be released back into the wild after a bit of recuperation. A nice railraod story thanks to some caring people.
