Well, maybe a bit longer.

I was looking at some photos of the great George Sellious layout the other night and I noticed how he has provided scenery on his staging yard I though why can't I do that we are using the staging yard less and less why not utilise this valuable piece of Real estate for some more useful purpose but still keep it as a small staging yard AND storage as well.

So... Here is a before and after the wall came down, nothing more has been done yet but there will be in the near future so if your interested keep watching every so often for updates.

The engine house will move over to the right with new tracks, the old engine house tracks will be extended right up to the wall and a passenger station will be built with a crossover so the engine can escape there will be a siding to store passenger cars and the rerail track will be painted and hidden by a tall fence (that's the silver track in the centre) the rest will be landscaped with some shop fronts and a small street all this in a 7 feet X 2.6 feet space.

It's exciting, just what I needed, another project to join the rest on the list.

Roo.

I know a guy who has a very large On30 layout, and his staging area was in the crew room. After a year or so, he put basic scenery in place and it just looks better that way.

I don't think if I'd had the room, I wouldn't have sceniced the staging tracks if I'd had them on their own like that.

Your average viewer of a layout would just think it wasn't completed, as I doubt anyone outside the hobby would understand an independent staging yard like that.

As much as I liked and owned fast cars for many years I now drive a very sedate little car that is great on fuel so to get back to the staging area that is now going to be called the interchange tracks this is the progress so far. Excuse the weights on the track I'm waiting for the glue to dry also the "rerailer" track is being discarded and two more tracks will be installed with a passenger station all the tracks will be ballasted eventually and scenary added.  Roo.
