A large group of folks showed up to see the turntable in operation.IMG_3453

These 50 or so people are from an order of 100 people from China, pre-painted and cheap.  The painting lacked and had too many of the same pose with the same paint job.  I repainted almost all of them.  Also had to glue those flat pieces of plastic to all to make them stand up.  15 or so people were seated.  They are posed here just to have a spot to set them as I continue painting the rest.

Here is a picture of my new favorite steam locomotive, a Lionel 2046 I have had for several years but have over looked running it much.  It runs as good as my old favorites, the Lionel  2035's .  The 2046 looks good with my homemade Vanderbilt coal tender and the 6 wheel long Lionel streamlined coal tenders.

I am in the planning stage on building a copy of the Lionel 9278 Life Savers Tank car.  They are hard to find around here and some are rather pricey.  Looks like mine will have to be a two dome model verses the one dome 9278 as two dome tank cars are the spare shells I have.

Thank you all for the kind comments.

I think I read where the Lionel 2046 and 2056 Hudson's have the same motor as the Lionel 2035.  The 2035 looks better on my O27 curves with less over hang but I have gotten used to the longer engines like the 671, 2046 and 2056 especially since the run well and not have derailed with the four wheel pilot trucks.

Even with the big heavy weights running well, I still like to run some of the 2-4-2 Lionel's like the 242 either plastic or cast metal with four of so cars.  They love the 027 curves.

Charlie - instead of gluing flat pieces of plastic to the feet to make them stand up, have you ever considered using Museum Wax applied to the feet, which will allow you to stand them up and still be removable and leave no mark.
